  1. A surprisingly difficult shot. I had been taking some shots of
  2. the girl in the grounds of our local stately home. The house was
  3. closed, but the 'live in' care taker took an interest and said we
  4. could take some shots in the house drawing room.

  6. Again, a case of taking chances when offered and not abusing
  7. them.
  8.  
  9. The piano looked a good prop, so we set up this shot. I didn't
  10. want to use flash as I thought it would ruin the atmosphere, so I
  11. exposed the mono film - medium format - to suit the light falling
  12. on the girl and piano from the window.

  14. This meant that the window was very over exposed. So, after
  15. printing the body of the picture, and before moving paper or
  16. negative, I printed the window in through a carefully and pre-cut
  17. hole in a piece of card.

  19. As I remember, the exposure needed was four or five times as much
  20. as for the main scene. It worked, though !
